The strongest in the 1920s on their continent was the national team of Uruguay team. It is most often won in the championships for national teams in South America, which have been held on the continent since 1910. Its main competitor was the Argentina national team (can be surprised, but the Brazilian national team at all times markedly inferior to its neighboring country in continental championships).
