Denon celebrates the amazing ability to listen to the Egyptians execution of the same familiar story many times, for every storyteller knows how to set off on his own side or the other of the narrative. Often, they go back to medieval folklore of various peoples of the East, but sometimes have a parallel in the works of the major writers of the medieval Arab (al-Jahiz and others.).
